I have a alot of experience in this area, allow me to help you out. 1st thing youll want to do is get yourself some plastic styrene sheets of plastic then get your self some plastruct welding glue. ![]() Now you can cut the bed in a few different ways. One way is with a dremel, works well but melts the plastic a bit. Another way is to use a really sharp exacto type knife and keep scoring the area to you break through. It takes a while but it will be very clean. In the case of this Bob'd bed I did on my Toyota trekker I just used a hack saw as the bed was pretty beat up already and I wasnt worried about it being less then perfect. ![]() Marked the bed ![]() 1st cut ![]() 2nd cut ![]() You can see the section I removed, I then back the section with the plastic styrene and glued with with the plastic weld and some tire CA. ![]() You can see in that picture how I back the bed for strength ![]() You will then need some type of body filler, I use Tamiya putty. Its available from tower here http://www.towerhobbies.com listing Its a 2 part mix and it works very well, sands easily, dries pretty quick and the fumes wont kill you. After you fill and sand and clean away the seam youll be ready for paint. I didnt got to crazy on making this perfect as I plan on running this truck. ![]() You can really do anything you think of with some glue and the styrene, there is no limit really. Hope that hel ps Mike, aka ScaleManiac |
